Albert Au builds community-care technology through two companies that are still running, TeamCare at acesobee limited and PharmCare. This page is the record behind that work.

TeamCare

TeamCare is still running at acesobee limited, which Albert Au co-founded in 2014. It is a community care planning system: a personal care plan, case management, and a point-of-care record for carers, nurses, social workers, therapists, older adults, and families.

PharmCare

Albert Au founded PharmCare Technology Limited in 2020 and is its CTO. PharmCare is community-pharmacy medication management for pharmacists and patients, in Traditional Chinese and English, using public drug records and Drug Icon pictograms. The public site is pharmcare.app.

Drug Icon CC

Albert Au leads Drug Icon CC, a medication-pictogram project for Hong Kong, developed with the SIE Fund prototyping programme. Medicine labels in Hong Kong are mostly words. Older adults and people from ethnic minorities can find them hard to follow, and carers often add handwritten notes so a dose is taken correctly. The icons stick on a medicine pack and show the instruction.

The pictograms are in Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, English, Urdu, and Bahasa. drugicon.cc publishes 30 icons in six types. Community nurses and community pharmacists tested them in the second quarter of 2021 with older adults and ethnic-minority patients in Hong Kong. The icons are released under Creative Commons BY-ND: they may be copied and shared, with attribution, and not modified. Research and training materials are released under Creative Commons BY.

HealthBasic

Albert Au was co-founder and chief operating officer of HealthBasic. Quality Healthcare Medical Services and eHealthcareAsia acquired the company in 2001.

Earlier career

From 1995 to 1998 Albert Au worked at IBM, in healthcare and insurance. From 2002 to 2004 he worked at Health Dimension, on medical and hospital IT. From 2007 to 2015 he worked at Williams Lea.
